The Best 3 Season Boot
When it comes to boots, I couldn’t be more picky… or nerdy. I don’t just settle when it comes to picking something that I am going to be putting on my feet day in and day out. Sometimes a boot is the first line of defense from mud, muck, snow and other undesirable things getting to your little piggies. I needed something that would work for all occasions and conditions. Living in Colorado I could be doing anything from hiking a 14er to having a beer in the matter of an hour. I need something that performed on the mountain but also looked good and functioned everywhere else. This is THAT boot.
- Waterproof Gore-Tex® lining
- Abrasion-resistant polyester upper with a patented TPU Thermo Tech Application™ makes this boot extremely durable and lightweight
- 3D Flex™ insert for excellent ankle mobility
- Vibram® Mulaz outsole with a technical edging platform and aggressive rear lugs for superior traction
These Gore-Tex lined foot gloves have taken me on so many different types of terrain and adventures, I don’t think there is anything else in my closet with the same pedigree. I decided to really put them to the test on an October solo multi-day elk hunt in the Castle Peak area just North of Wolcott, CO. This trip in particular dealt me a full hand of conditions. To get the party started, I found myself in 5″ of new fluff and by the end of the trip I was in just as much mud. Still, they performed just as advertised.
Did I get in over my head on boot selection? A little. I really wanted to test not just their durability but their willingness to keep my feet warm in the coldest the area had to offer. I would say I draw the line at about 20 degrees with these boots, which makes sense for their design intention. If I wanted something warmer or heavier duty, La Sportiva definitely has that too. –Adam
